Current Status and Trends of Plastic Packaging Materials for Food in my country

After more than 20 years of reform and development, my country's food industry has achieved world-renowned achievements. The annual industrial output value has exceeded 1 trillion yuan and has become one of the important pillar industries. The rapid development of the food industry has provided a huge market for the packaging industry, and plastic packaging has increasingly become an indispensable packaging material in the food industry. At the same time, the continuous advancement of plastic packaging technology has also made it possible for the food industry to adopt new processes and applications, especially the preservation and aseptic packaging technologies that support the packaging of dairy and meat products.

1. Plastic packaging materials continue to develop rapidly

After more than 20 years of development, my country's plastic packaging materials have initially formed a complete range of industries with a considerable technical level and a certain scale, occupying an important position in the packaging market and playing an indispensable role in the construction of the national economy. During the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" period, the rate of development during the "Ninth Five-Year Plan" period was maintained, and further developed at an average annual growth rate of 15%. In 2005, the output reached more than 8 million tons, an increase of 14% over 2004. The total output value is 120 billion yuan, accounting for about 28% of the packaging industry output value. One of the main products of plastic packaging materials is flexible packaging film, which accounts for 55% of the total output of plastic packaging materials of 8 million tons, and the output of flexible composite film (bag) accounts for nearly half of the flexible packaging film. During the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" period, the fastest-developing products are flexible packaging films and hollow containers. This is mainly due to the increase in the demand for food and beverage dairy packaging and the increase in demand for agricultural and sideline products and agricultural chemical products as people's living standards improve and the pace of life accelerates. Promoted the development of packaging films and hollow containers. There are more than 8,000 companies above the designated size of plastic packaging materials, including more than 2,240 film manufacturing, more than 4,300 silk and rope woven products, more than 500 foam plastics, and 680 packaging boxes and packaging containers. The road of rapid development for more than 20 years is the road of reform and opening up, the road of socialist market economy, and the road of all employees in the industry working hard and working hard.
Second, the main characteristics of the development of plastic packaging materials

1. With the rapid development of flexible plastic composite substrates, my country will become a global flexible plastic packaging base. After more than 20 years of development, China's new flexible plastic packaging material industry has developed into an important force in the world's flexible plastic packaging industry, and the output and consumption of various flexible plastic packaging materials have grown rapidly. Among them, BOPP film consumption increased from 400,000 tons in 2000 to 1.66 million tons in 2005; BOPET demand increased from 60,000 tons in 2000 to 330,000 tons; CPP has developed rapidly in recent years, with an annual growth rate of 10%. the above. The increase in demand has greatly stimulated the construction of production bases. From 2001 to 2005, 73.7% of the global new production capacity of flexible plastic packaging materials was concentrated in Asia, of which 48.6% was concentrated in China. The trend of China to become the world's manufacturing base for flexible plastic packaging materials has clearly shown. During the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, the development of China's packaging industry will show new characteristics. The global division of labor and industrial structure adjustments will become more rational and clear. The world packaging manufacturing base will gradually move eastward. The flexible plastic packaging industry will also face global reorganization and adjustment. The plastic packaging material industry is showing a development pattern of "Western characteristics and Eastern scale". Domestic enterprises are seizing the opportunities in the changing situation, based on globalization, innovative thinking, and internationalization strategies, to enhance independent innovation capabilities and internationalization levels, and accelerate the improvement of their comprehensive competitiveness and sustainable development capabilities, while making full use of Foreign capital, technology, resources and markets have strengthened themselves.

(1) BOPP is moving towards group and large-scale development

BOPP film is an important flexible packaging substrate with a large quantity and a wide range. It has a wide range of uses in industries such as food, tobacco, daily chemicals, medicine, adhesive tape, and printed composite bags. The BOPP production line was introduced in 1981. After more than 20 years of development, the technical level of BOPP has been continuously improved. From the initial line speed of 150-200m/min, the width of 4.2m, the single-line capacity is only 3000-6000 tons. The most advanced level, the line speed is 350-450m/min, the width is 8.2m, and the production lines with an annual output of 25,000 to 30,000 tons have been introduced. There are 154 lines with a production capacity of nearly 2 million tons, of which the German Bruckner Company accounts for 48 %, Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries accounted for 29.6%, France’s DMT accounted for 10.5%, and these three equipment accounted for 88.1% of the Chinese market. The introduction of advanced technology and equipment has changed the product structure of the film, from the past single-layer to 3~5 layer co-extrusion stretching, which has increased production capacity, reduced energy consumption, and improved quality, which is conducive to intensive management, and is conducive to technological innovation and innovation. Product development has improved competitiveness, and the rapid development of BOPP has improved the positive role of high-quality packaging substrates in the national economy. At present, the BOPP industry has obtained vitality for development through asset reorganization and technological transformation. It is mainly manifested in: The development trend of scale and group is very obvious. According to the statistical analysis of 64 enterprises in 2005, Jiangsu Shenda, Foshan, Hongming, There are 11 group companies in Zhejiang Dadongnan, Jiangsu Hengchuang, Hefei Jinlinglike, Ningbo Yasu Technology, Zhejiang Yimei, Shaoxing Fuling, Guangdong Jieyang Yuntong, Guangdong Deguan, the output is more than 50,000-140,000, the total output It was 830,200 tons, accounting for 51.8% of the total. There are 19 companies with an output of 2-4 million tons, with an output of 464,000 tons. The total output of these two 30 companies is 1.294 million tons, accounting for 78% of the total output of 1.66 million tons. This fully shows that BOPP's large-scale, grouping and market mechanism for survival of the fittest has been initially formed, and small-scale, poor-quality companies have already taken shape. Basically withdraw from the market, and some transfer factories, auctions, transfers, etc., there are only more than 60 existing companies in the industry from the original 87 companies. It can be said that disorderly competition based on low prices has improved, and a new order based on core competitiveness is taking shape. The BOPP industry has passed the severe winter and ushered in spring.

(2) BOPET film has made progress in the development of functional film market

BOPET film started late in China. In the 1980s, equipment was introduced to gradually develop from the production of photosensitive materials, insulating materials, and audio and video tapes to packaging substrates. In 2005, there were 33 companies with a total output of 338,000 tons. Among them, the packaging film market accounted for 57% (composite printing film, hot stamping film, and vacuum aluminized film), 15% for insulation and electrical appliances, 13% for photosensitive materials, 5% for audio and video, 6% for card protection, and graphics and decorative films 4%. With the continuous expansion of BOPET applications, higher requirements are put forward for its performance. The development of special films to differentiated products is the main trend, such as: high-strength film, high-transparency film, low haze, high light transmittance, can be widely used in anti-counterfeiting packaging, development of anti-static film for electrical products, in telecommunications It has important applications in the industry. By developing multi-layer co-extrusion technology, producing heat-sealable films, occupying the fresh food and frozen food packaging markets, and developing heat-shrinkable films for bottle packaging label films, there are very broad market prospects.

(3) BOPA film market development is the key

According to statistics, the entire industry has introduced 12 BOPA companies and introduced 17 production lines with an annual production capacity of about 70,000 tons. In 2005, some of the production lines were put into operation, with an output of 37,000 tons. The situation where there was only one production company was broken, but the situation of oversupply was further deepened. Market competition has become more intense. At present, the top priority of BOPA companies is to develop the market. BOPA film is mainly used for packaging and covering materials for retort pouches, frozen vacuum packaging of fresh meat, cheese, and flavored food. It is used for food composite packaging and has a large market share. Other markets are mainly pharmaceutical packaging and packaging. Three major industries including printing industry. Expanding the application in the three major markets mentioned above is a long way to go. Fundamentally speaking, improving the quality and technical level of BOPA film is the key. Nylon film is difficult to process, and some of the introduced production lines have immature technology and poor film formation. It is necessary to explore experience in the processing process, and constantly adjust and adjust the process. Parameters, improve yield. The downstream application is not small, especially the BOPA film has poor hygroscopicity and water resistance, and it must be closely matched with the composite process technology to be widely used. Simultaneously. PVDC's multi-layer co-extruded film is used in cooling meat, and it is also a competitor of BOPA, which is worthy of attention.

(4) The development of cast polypropylene film (CPP) is also very rapid, and the market will also change.

Cast polypropylene film (CPP) is a kind of non-stretched flat film extruded film quenched by melt casting. It is characterized by good film transparency and flatness. After surface treatment (corona treatment), it can be used for color printing. , Composite, aluminized, widely used in food, textile, daily necessities packaging. China began to introduce foreign single-layer cast film production equipment in the 1980s, with a width of 1~1.5m and an annual production capacity of 1000m~1500m/set. In the 1990s, it introduced multi-layer co-extruded cast film from Germany, Austria, Japan, and Italy. The production line has a width of 2~2.5m and a production capacity of 3000~4000m/unit. Entering the new century, more advanced equipment has been introduced, with a width of 4~5m, and the production capacity has been increased to 5000~6000 tons. In the past two or three years, domestically-made cast film technology and equipment have made great progress. According to investigations, there are nearly 20 CPP equipment manufacturers in China, 119 domestic production lines, and the equipment capacity exceeds 200,000 tons. In addition, there are 70 imported equipment. The production capacity of the two lines is 300,000 tons, and the total of the two has exceeded 500,000 tons. According to statistics, the output of CPP in 2005 was 300,000 tons. It can be seen that the situation of large production capacity and oversupply of products has formed, resulting in a disordered state of depressing prices and participating in competition. Therefore, the CPP film industry must rely on technological innovation, improve the grade of localized equipment, and enhance the core competitiveness of the enterprise, so that the enterprise can maintain long-term vitality. At present, the domestic CPP film market is dominated by composite packaging films. Taking 2005 as an example, it accounted for 64% of the total output (about 192,000 tons), aluminized film accounted for 21% (about 63,000 tons), and cooking film accounted for 15% (About 45,000 tons). The choice of advanced five-layer co-extrusion cast film can produce high-end CPP. The product market is positioned as high-barrier film and high-temperature cooking film. The domestic market has a promising future, but it is also facing the fierce multi-layer co-extrusion blown film. Competition, multi-layer co-extruded high-barrier film (PET or PA) in liquid food, milk, ham sausage, fresh meat packaging, oil-resistant food, large infusion bags and other packaging applications continue to expand, and the amount is rising, and CPP five-layer co-extrusion casting The competition of thin films deserves attention.
